Re: Avid S1...I am excited!

Eddie great to see the info about the S1 on here.

Will the new version of Eucon allow multiple ipads to be connected and each display a different screen, with or without S1?

Re: Is there an "Add to Movie" option in QuickTime 10?

Totally agree Eric, QT Pro was excellent for years.
But Apple have obviously dumped QT Pro 7 and have no intention of improving QT 10, which has always been rubbish anyway.
MPEG streamclip was...

Re: Avid S1 & S4

I think the really exciting bit of this release is, it looks like you can have 2 or more Ipads with different screens open, or at least that's what I'm hoping.
So you could have one as a dedicated...

Re: Is there an "Add to Movie" option in QuickTime 10?

I don't find FFWorks cumbersome personally in use, or no more so than Quicktime Pro 7, just the setup of the initial binary is a bit fiddley.

Just load your video, set it to video pass thru and...

Re: Is there an "Add to Movie" option in QuickTime 10?

I'm using FFWorks as a front end for FFmpeg.
It can add and delete audio and a whole lot more. Add stereo or surround audio etc etc.

Really fast encoding too.

Its a bit of a hassle to get...

Re: Disk Cache oddity

Yea, sorry, I took Darryl way off topic there, I'll get my coat.
Interesting stuff though.

Re: Disk Cache oddity

Well you learn something new every day.
Thanks Trent I didn't know you could do that timeline size thing.

I also didn't know about the pcie capabilities of NVMe SSD's,
thanks Darryl.

Re: Automation does not write from plug-in GUI when transport stopped

If I understand you correctly this is because you have somehow created automation break points at the start of your session, or PT has auto created them.
I've found this a tricky thing with Pro...

Re: Disk Cache oddity

I've never had any joy with Disc Cache.
You can set it to all sorts of things and it doesn't seem to make any appreciable difference.
Wasn't it just a stopgap at the end of using spinning discs for...

Re: Visual and functional overhaul?

I'm using a combo of Metagrid on the ipad controlling keyboard maestro for my shortcuts for this very reason.
Metagrid is really easy to re-program and change position size and colour of the buttons...

Re: 6-core vs. 12-core MacPro w/ ProTools

Nice one Eric.
Good to know it went well.
Buy yourself something nice with the 2500 you've saved. :D

Re: Send windows disappear when clicking on edit window

Thanks BScout, Eddie.

unchecking "Close Windows on Workstation When Exiting" seems to have solved it.
Been working fine all day today.
I have the drop-down set to plugins only.

There are...

Re: 6-core vs. 12-core MacPro w/ ProTools

I agree, there's a really noticeable improvement in multi core cpu handling in 2019.5. The extra voices are great too and seem to take the load off, at least in my workflow.

Send windows disappear when clicking on edit window

Since the latest version of PT Control I have this issue.
It doesn't necessarily happen all the time.
It used to be that a send window would stay open until I closed it myself, but now sometimes if...

Re: Eucon 19.5.1 is out now

Isn't that exactly the same for Plugins, may not be there, or may be a different one?

The send workflow could use some work in PT. Its quite a pain when applying send levels to multiple tracks...

Re: 6-core vs. 12-core MacPro w/ ProTools

Why not just change out the cpu yourself?
It took me about an hour.
There are very good video instructions on you tube and you can buy an upgrade kit with refurb cpu on Ebay.
The graphics card...

Re: Commit slowness

I had this problem with a session with a rewire input in it, from Soundminer in my case.

Once I removed that input and changed to a hardwired audio in, commit is super-fast.

Do you have...

Re: automatic loudness correction that can handle split stems too?

To be fair we have wandered a bit off topic here.
Alexy didn't suggest he wanted his stems to be loudness compliant, that would be bonkers.
He wanted to be able to use something like Nugen LM...

Re: automatic loudness correction that can handle split stems too?

I think I agree with Mike.
After all, f you have any kind of dynamic processing over your mix bus its not going to react the same if you put the same plugin over the stems unless you have some sort...

Re: automatic loudness correction that can handle split stems too?

I asked Nugen about this at a trade show as its something I've always wished I could do for short form and fast turnaround TV delivery.

Unfortunately they said they understood the issue, but if...

That isn't true in my experience, sound01 will find he can open larger sessions on HDN than on HDX1. That's what I found.
Just today I opened a large film session that was running on HDX3 on my...

Re: HDX vs Native

I sold my HDX1 a while back for this very reason.
I found I could run larger sessions on my laptop using coreaudio than on
the HDX1 with a trash can.
Changed to HD Native instead and never looked...
