Weird automatic printing/metering problem?

I imported audio from iTunes onto a steep track. I then tried to record a mono track, and pro tools is tracking the mic AND somehow automatically printing the audio onto the new track?! Never seen...

yes, i am using pro tools 12.7.1.. on my aavid master account, thats what the system id number matches with. same as the system id for pro tools 12.7.1
