FYI, I discovered what was causing this... The Yamaha S80 synth sends MIDI clock messages when it is in its default config. I think this is because of the arpeggiator in the synth. This was...

My problem was a defective device. I returned and got a new one and my problems went away. :-)

Oh, I have also heard the Avid will replace the unit. However, I didn't want to wait OR use an ASC for that.

I took mine back to the store I bought it from. They replaced with another unit that was WORSE than the first. Sheesh.

I compared the serial numbers and they were only different by 7 digits. ...

No, I don't.

Also, the problem cropped up before I ever attempted MIDI setup. I just plugged up the Mbox, installed Pro Tools (and drivers) and set the Mbox for audio output. iTunes played...

Hey Donald, I am actually using Mac OS X 10.6.6. I have heard of other users having this problem and actually posted a topic in the Mac forum. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything from anyone...

I have the same problem with the MIDI whether I use an instrument track or the aux input track.

For some reason, it seems like the MIDI/Aux Input approach is an older method that has been replaced...

I have this exact same problem. MIDI only works with 88.2 or 44.1.

Any chance you figured out a way around this?

Hello, I am new to Pro Tools so forgive me if this is a stupid question.

I purchased the Pro Tools Mbox over the weekend and everything seems to be working well, except these minor annoyances.
