Re: HDX vs Native

True.. either or.. BUT you should be aware of the amount of samples your DSP mixer is demanding, whether it is smaller or larger than playback buffer.

Assuming same hardware of course. And...

Re: HDX vs Native

Sweet. Also my experience on native systems since 2002 have been similar if you set playback buffer to 256 or lower. To repeat myself, 256 playback buffer makes "headphone feeds sound correct"

Re: HDX vs Native

I've used them all dont get me wrong.. but it is still a matter of math to calculate the roundtrip latency. With zero plugins the difference is in the hardware. Add first native plugin and it's about...

Re: HDX vs Native

you can test it yourself.. one plugin might behive nicely on DSP and have thousands of samples of native latency

so remove f'ex all MCDSP from the mixer and see how much the latency changed. i...

Re: HDX vs Native

further off-topic, but i'd like to know which plugins you load to your system.. 128 samples / 48k should in itself be 2.7ms so even a +10ms value makes me think one of your plugins introduces extra...

Re: HDX vs Native

I'm not trying to take over the thread too much, but guys, have you always calculated the DSP latency that is going on with the mixer? I mean if the DSP latency is 350 samples how come its monitoring...

Re: Which PT version for my system?

As long as the sticks meet the spec, there cannot be a difference. However there is a reason known brands cost more and that is quality control.

Re: HDX vs Native

Guys, native systems with up to 256 buffer have been good enough for two decades already.. it's just that DSP systems are more stable when you track thru plugins.

Of course it feels snappier bcs...

Re: 2019.8

PT internal latency? No such thing. Native systems roundtrip latency is AD/DA plus playback buffer, nothing more. If you have DSP then add X samples of processing as per whatever plugins you use.

Re: 2019.8

Wouldn't it be great? Actually I'm amazed that HDX customers haven't been vocal about this as sometimes the HDX session is taken to native and back and toggling this "feature" on and off may change...

Re: Which PT version for my system?

Re: Which PT version for my system?

Latest macOS&PT indeed is very smooth and solid release, but before that you at least need to upgrade your memory.. 12GB ram isn't going to be enough for a good experience

Re: Upgrade from "pt 2018 perpetual"

It doesn't matter if you want to or not, but you will have support plan if you want to have a new version of PT, that's how it is now. Don't get confused about renting a license. You have perpetual...

Re: Worth replacing 2008 Mac Pro for upgraded 2010 Mac Pro?

Of course it helps, CPU is the #1 resource PT is using. Whatever you do you want to process without delays, and because memory is like a warehouse between factory and customer you want to use it as...
