Actually, this isn't true. Protools 4.x cannot updates plug ins that are older than the minimum compatible versions. He needs to start off with at least 2.2 for Protools to be able to update it.

You don't have a version of DINR that's compatible with PT 4.x. You need at least version 2.2 to work.

If you look at the bottom of the Toolbox XP page, you'll see that it says Win98 compat in 2000. No mention of NT. Problably won't ever be NT compatible. So Mac only for who knows how long.

The 001 is a stand alone system. It doesn't work with any other digi hardware.

powerbook authorization

You need one of the compatible floppy drives to get it to work. I had to dump a VST drive for a compatible one a month ago. Wish I'd thought to ask before I bought the VST drive.

Will powermix users, that don't have an AM3 card have a resonable upgrade to 001 or Toolbox? Or will they be stuck at 4.31?

From what I can tell, 001 is kind of like the AM3 card - it doesn't use any other digidesign hardware.

If you want to use a Farm or an interface, get a TDM system.
