You should be able to do what it says in the article regardless of whether you're on Windows or Mac. It's just that you were trying to do something different than what the article says.

You will not be able to use both at the same time. This is by design from Avid. The fact that it's thunderbolt vs. PCIe will not change anything. HD systems in general have never been able to...

That is correct. The PCIe card is useless without an HD interface hooked up to it. It can not be selected as an interface.

Yes, I forgot about the Digilink license as well. Make sure to confirm with Sweetwater that the Reinstatement is the right one coming from HD10 (I'm pretty sure it is).
