Re: Dumb Question: Balanced or Unbalanced??

Are you talking level or the actual connection? They are two separate things.
All of the inputs are TRS and balanced level (+4dbu).
Outputs 1 and 2 are TRS and balanced level.
Outputs 3-8 are TRS...

Re: 001 Outs 3-8 down 12dB

Never mind. Found it on the Answerbase. ID# 7281 dated 02/05/2002. They basically say that only the Main Outs and the Monitor Outs are balanced line level (+4dBu) because of power consumption issues....

Re: Small Backup Solutions

Hard Drives are not a reliable backup for long-term storage. They are mechanical devices and can fail just sitting on a shelf. Your best bet for long-term archival is an optical medium; DVD being the...

Re: This use to be easy? How do you do this?

It's called Edit Selection follows Regions List Selection, or something like that. It is set up in the Operations Tab of the Preferences.

Re: Digi why no scroll support for pro tools 6 OSX???

fathermac,

I'm glad you found something that works for you, but for those of us with Kensington (or just non-Microsoft) products, we are still SOL. It appears that Digi is not going to answer this...

Re: calibration / monitoring levels

Actually, you would have to go the other way. Setting your outputs for -14 or -12 would make the console meters hotter. What you would need to do is set the PT outs for less than -20. i.e. -22, -24...

Re: Speaker stand height- Help!!!

It depends upon the height of your console, but most speaker stands are either 36" or 42".

Re: HUGE mystery audio files

Dave,

If you didn't have any crashes while recording, I don't know what to say. That is usually ow those files get created. Just get rid of them if you don't need them. I routinely check my audio...

Re: Digi why no scroll support for pro tools 6 OSX???

I don't think they have an answer for us. They must be waiting it out hoping that this thread will just go away. All I can say is for those of you who have OS9 still, just use PT5.x to do all your...

PT6 and Multiple Users Preferences

I thought that PT6 was going to support individual preferences for multiple users. What happened to that? I was really looking forward to being able to save the way that I work and not have to reset...

Re: Digi why no scroll support for pro tools 6 OSX???

Very major when you have over 80 tracks to go through in the edit window. BTW Digi, (who still hasn't replied to any of these posts), how about some way to scroll left-right in the Mix window as...

Re: Mix like the Radio...

any instrument that doesn't have line level or mic level out needs to run through a DI in order to get a good signal to tape. Also, if the outputs of your instruments are high impedance, they need to...

If you are adding a fade to the regions, (using Command+F), just shift+click to select all the tracks and then hit Command+F. If you are drawing automation, you must have the tracks grouped as an...

Re: Digi why no scroll support for pro tools 6 OSX???

Same here with the Kensington Expert Mouse Pro, latest version of Mouseworks. What gives Digi? It seems like such a small thing to do. Just another reason to not upgrade to 6.

Any comments, Digi?

Re: sample rate conversion

You can open the 48k session, select all the regions, and then export them as 44.1k, split mono files. Then you can easily import them into the 44.1 session.

Re: RE: this post "No Firewire recognition..." Who\'s had trouble with ADS Pyro Drive kit?

I have had an ADS Pyro (non-Oxford) enclosure for over a year and have never had any problems with it. Of course, I always make sure that the drive is not mounted before I...

Re: Firewire Track Playback Counts?

I get 40+ tracks from my FW setup, which is a Seagate Cheetah in a FW enclosure WITHOUT a 911 chip. Never have any problems. The biggest thing that limits total track counts is the edit density of...

Re: ADAT and PTHD lock clock and transport???

If you don't have a BRC (Big Random Clock), then you are screwed. If you DO have a BRC, you might still be screwed as ADATs are notorious for sync problems. Usually they will lose sync after a couple...
