Re: HD 10 'running out of CPU power' and DAE 9121 errors

Thanks Frank,

I've followed the other suggestions, reduceing the undo queue to 8 and halving the number of host processors, and the first part of the problem seems to have been fixed so thank you!...

Re: HD 10 'running out of CPU power' and DAE 9121 errors

Sorry, I should have been clear that I'm not using the system in my signature for this job. That's my home rig, and I know its limitations intimately. I'm freelancing in a studio I've never worked...

Re: HD 10 'running out of CPU power' and DAE 9121 errors

Interesting. My session is currently using 1.6G 'real' memory when I open it. It gradually creeps up to about 2.6, then falls over totally.

Thanks Frank, I'll look at the undo cue when the...

Re: HD 10 'running out of CPU power' and DAE 9121 errors

I should add I'm also getting 'protools could not save mix because there is not enough memory whilst translating tracks'. I've never seen this one before - anyone any ideas what 'translating tracks'...

Re: HD 10 'running out of CPU power' and DAE 9121 errors

Rob, that's very helpful, thank you.

I thought h.264 was supposed to be one of the better codecs for processor loading - is there an even better one? I've already transcoded from DNxHD36 as they...

Re: HD 10 'running out of CPU power' and DAE 9121 errors

update - I've got the PT System Usage monitor open, along with the Activity Monitor, and when it freezes and loops over the same half second of audio before coming up with the error there's a...

HD 10 'running out of CPU power' and DAE 9121 errors

I'm currently mixing in a studio running PT 10 on HD hardware (HD5) on a 2 x 2.8 Ghz Quad-core Intel Zeon mac with 6Gb Memory.

My session is pretty much up to the limit, 130 voices on 109 tracks...

Re: Animated film 'frames' questions

just a little addition to postman's post: Avid Video Satellite will exhibit exactly the same QT timing issues as protools does IF you use a standard quicktime codec (ie any of them). As he says,...

XMON breakout cables

I'm looking to utilise the 'stereo' inputs on my XMON. When I speced the rig I thought I'd be clever and save myself a few quid by not buying breakout looms for every hole on the xmon. duh.

I've...

Re: Public Enemies...is it just me...?

Most of the criticisms seem to be about dialogue audibility (I've not seen the film yet so can't comment) rather than creative choices about guns etc.

I prefer some contrast and difference in a...

Re: Public Enemies...is it just me...?

all this is proof I think of the old saying: film mixing is 90% politics, 5% actual mixing, and 5% drinking tea (or coffee!)... ;-)

ps - and some of us have been running 'live' dialogue tracks...

PT8 GUI feature update/request

I was just about to post this on the huge long thread, but Mr digimoderator pipped me to the post with his locking button.

As far as I could see, this has NOT been mentioned in the very long...

PT8 automation write active displays

So I'm doing my first proper job on PT8, and whilst I don't want to get into a debate about how muck like Logic it looks, I AM struggling with some display issues that were very straightforward on...

bulk converting of fades from equal gain to equal power

I have inherited a large protools session that has lots and lots (total fade count just under 7000, but that includes ins and outs too) of equal gain cross fades. I want to be able to convert them...

Re: 24FPS to 25FPS pitch/speed correction inside one protool

Excellent! Thank you! :-)

I'll give that a go when I'm back in the studio next week.

Thanks again,

24FPS to 25FPS pitch/speed correction inside one protools

Hi all, I'm scratching my head here and would really appreciate some help!

I've mixed and delivered a low budget film in 5.1 at 24FPS in the box. They require a 25FPS version of the mix (only the...

Thanks for that - it looks like it would certainly help, but it say's its for PCIe macs. I'm pretty sure that this one is PCI-X (I know my one is). There doesn't seem to be any...

This may be be a silly question, but I'm working in a new studio and I'm having this weird thing whereby every time I add a further Waves plug to the session it puts it on a new chip,...

Re: moving iLok authorisations

Can't move waves authorisations? That's a bugger. Well, I'm going to try it tomorrow, and we'll see what happens!

Thanks everyone.

Re: moving iLok authorisations

Andre,

Yes, I'd heard about that... that was also part of my thinking.... So I may have waves on a separate one, and other 'ZDT' plugs on a third.

Thanks,
