Re: Ready to pull the plug. Yup - another goodbye post

I agree. I ran Sibelius and Protools on an i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz. I had to set the buffers to 256 or 512 samples to get smooth playback. Some cores were maxed out while the rest were barely...

Re: Ready to pull the plug. Yup - another goodbye post

Thanks for the offer.

Although I'm really focusing on S1 as my primary system now. It's curious how you are using a Mac. I always wondered if that made all the difference.

FYI -

I'm...

Re: Ready to pull the plug. Yup - another goodbye post

Thanks Mark. I totally agree with your points.

For the record and to clear up any confusion about my post and with the risk of lighting up a firestorm, I was making a point that Protools isn’t...

Ready to pull the plug. Yup - another goodbye post

I think I’m done with Protools.

My annual renewal is coming due in 7 days.

I’ve been using Protools since V8 and M-audio. I’ve spent way too much time over the years finessing Protools and...

Application Manager 15 million files and 104 GB

Hi all,

I thought I would share this as I've seen quite a few posts related to systems slowing down if the Application Manager is running.

Application manager seems to be creating folders...

Re: Hiss and echo removal

Hi

Magix Audio Cleaning Lab did a great job for me on a project I thought was hopeless. A 50 year old recording pressed to 33 1/3 in a church with one microphone 50 feet away from the wedding...

Re: Two jobs due and Pro Tools won't work!!!

This may sound totally crazy but I've stabilized my system and solved that problem months ago. I reduced the CPUs to just 3. On an i7 with 4 real cores this implies that 1 real core and 1 virtual...

Re: SynthMaster 2.5 is "officially" RTAS now! Demo available

That's funny - I thought it was buggy software. It never occurred to me that it was on purpose. I now share the sentiment. It's like Try-sound.com and those annoying birds. Try to audition a...

Re: Remote on off switch for pc

I'd be interested to hear from you if you manage to get it to work with a USB keyboard or if you have to revert to the ps2 port.

Good luck.

Re: "The current playback engine does not support a sample rate of 48 KHz"

I think this problem usually occurs if you have another sound card or motherboard sound feature in your computer and windows has defaulted to it for some reason.

In windows 7 go to control...

Re: Protools 9.0.6 and addictive Drums

I'm using same versions and don't have much of a delay at all. Probably less then a second. Personally I find 9.06 much more stable than previous versions.

Have you tried a defrag on the drive...

Re: Remote on off switch for pc

Hi

That's exactly how I have it set up. My computer is in another secure room behind a wall. All audio cables and Video are routed through an access panel. The BIOS is set up to start the...

Re: VI (specifically Mini Grand) Volume Level Problem / Issue

Hi - Perhaps a long shot.

Do you have an "expression" pedal wired to your Midi Keyboard? This used to happen to me all the time. I would inadvertently tap this pedal and the VIs that were aware...

Re: Busses not recalled correctly when reopening sessions

That would drive me crazy. Have you considered importing into a fresh session? I've had the odd corruption of sessions in the past and I found that importing into a new session can sometimes set...

Re: VEPro - Aria - Multi not working the way I think it should in PT9

update

RTAS version of Aria works ok as Multi.

So this is looking like a VST problem with ARIA and VEPro not setting it up properly to route the channel outs in the Multi version.

So looks...

VEPro - Aria - Multi not working the way I think it should in PT9

Hi - I know I could ask this over at the VSL forum but I suspect something with my PT9 setup is causing the problem.

I have a project with 3 VEPro instruments. When I open an instance of VEPro...

Re: Xpand Freezing PT

DOT - same here tonight. No crashing and I really tried to push the system to the limit too. At one point had RTAS usage up to 45% with a dozen VIs.

I managed to get the tech...

I don't generally have problems with my setup other than the odd XPAND2 crashing the system. It seems to be related to changing patches while either I'm in playback mode or if...

Happens all the time to me too. I swore I wasn't touching anything :-)

1) To guarantee up time due to catastrophic boot drive failure or bad software installation event.

Re: Command 8 monitor section is really noisy

Same experience here too. I tried a lot of different things such as improving system grounding, better cabling etc but nothing really made the noise / hiss / hum go away.

I then discovered that...
