Yes, it IS a lot of money.

At least you've gotten a lot of use from PT9, and hopefully you'll get a lot of use from PT2019. I ran PT9 for a super-long time, and upgraded to PT2019 only a few...

I did this recently, and it works. I recommend clean-install VS in-place-upgrade. Take your time & save boot-drive-images as you go through the process. Worth it.

It's an issue with some Focusrite interfaces. My LS56 works as you describe. I used to have a Pro40 for my laptop rig as well ---> same issue. If I (occasionally) must crank the input gain up to 9.5...

If you have lots of data to transfer over, an external drive formatted exFAT would work.
