Re: Hope you're Happy Guys

I have read some Avid employees (past and current) opinions about the company. They feel the same way about the management as the customers do.

One of them said that why the board still trust the...

Re: Studio monitors

the tile might give you some unique sound to your recordings, but you don't want no reverberation when you listen to your monitors.

At least get a rug.

I think it's about the time LE and M-Powered should get ADC as well.

My suggestion:

There will be three versions. Essential, LE & HD. The same native base audio engine. Any of Pcie cards...

Re: Keep my Fast Track Ultra, or take a good deal on ProjectMix?

I don't own Fasttrack Ultra. I do own Porjectmix, though, but FastTrack Ultra has octane pre-amps, don't they? Then FastTrack Ultra's mic pres should be better.

As an audio interface and control...

Re: Recording track count on M-Powered?

I think 18 I/O channels 32 mono tracks maximum provided your audio interface & system can handle them.

If You mean simply one track per Input channel, then 18.

Limitation for...

Re: Profire 2626 and Protools 7.4cs4

A page from M-Audio knowledge base reads:

Knowledge Base

Max I/O with Pro Tools M-Powered

Q: Will the ProFire Lightbridge or ProFire 2626 let me record with more than 18 simultaneous...

Re: Profire 2626 and Protools 7.4cs4

This is just my theory.

PTMP has limitation of 18 inputs and 18 outputs regardless of the audio interface used. @44.1K you get to use first 18 channels. I think PTMP somehow counts first 4 ADAT...

Re: Trouble Exporting Regions To .WAV

I'm not an expert Pro Tooler. I use Cubase more often. As a matter of fact, I basically learned the method from Steinberg's website. So, that might not be the best way. Let's see if someone knows a...

Re: M-Powered 7 & Projectmix I/O problem

Opem 'Projectmix Control Panel' and check the 'mixer' page to see if the inputs channels you want to use for mono inputs are panned center. For a stereo pair, leave one of them hard left the other...

Re: Trouble Exporting Regions To .WAV

I don't see any reason why it's grayed out and I think your method should work, too, but I'll post how I export WAVs to other systems just to see anything I do might help you.

Re: Profire 2626 recording fuzz

I usually don't try to open a file like that, but your post made me wonder. So, I downloaded the file and checked it.

There's nothing recorded in the file. I mean no noise at all. I thought I'm...

Re: Any thoughts on the BEST PC/XP AUDIO Systems? Terra/SON/ADK?

It's not on your list, but I use an Element from Rain recording and I'm happy with the machine and the customer service.

I heard a lotta good thing about Sonica, too. Those builders might be a...

Re: ProFire 2626 Line input levels are quite low

I realize I was a little confused myself. 0dbVU for pro gear is +4dbu as Chris wrote.
Sorry for making it even more complicated. I've edited the posts accordingly. Other than that, dbu-dbFS part...

Re: ProFire 2626 Line input levels are quite low

Ah, OK. You use BF meterbridge. Thanks for the reply and excuse my persistence. Now I can sleep well. I was wondering what you exactly meant.

I didn't use any plug-in to measure my presonus. I...

Re: ProFire 2626 Line input levels are quite low

Nice! Great customer service. Post back with the result.

There seems to be confusion, though.

1: Meters within PT are measured in dbFS not VU
2: Not all devices are calibrated to...

Re: ProFire 2626 Line input levels are quite low

Well. If you're talking about Pro Tools' own digital meter, its scale is dbFS. So it it reads -18db on Pro Tools it is -18dbFS. It won't be -36db.

For your unit, -18.00db on Pro Tools = +1.6dbu on...

Re: ProFire 2626 Line input levels are quite low

What do you mean by -18VU? -18dbu? Which metet are you using to measure it and how is it calibrated?

I don't own the unit though I am interested in it.

I just checked the 2626's spec on...

Re: ProFire 2626 Line input levels are quite low

-18VU, not -18dbFS on the digital scale? If it reads -18dbFS on your pro tools, it doesn't sound too low to me. I don't know what is the maximum input level of the line input for the unit. The tech...

Re: Converting from 24 bit to 16

Maybe you need to put dither plug-in when you get 16 bit files from 24 bit ones? That could be the cause of funny noise.

It is sort of popular practice to record everything @24 bit 44.1k and...
