Avid changed peak over 0 dBFS meters a while ago from red to orange for all track types except the Master Fader, which still shows red. When in record mode, it will still show red for clip...

Try creating the appropriate track type first, and then drag the file onto it. I seem to recall this problem happening to me a while ago.

I agree that it's not something that I'd want, however it wouldn't alter the recorded audio unless the audio input is on an aux which is then bussed to an audio track. Inserts audio tracks don't...

Yes, I do run a trashcan but I have more than one. I do have a chassis with (2) HDX cards as well and as stated I'm running fine.

The 8MP card must use the 8x8 card's inputs and do not represent as individual inputs. Effectively you have 16 inputs and 16 outputs between both boxes.

Yes... It works fine. I wouldn't go past Yosemite if I were you however. I maintain Logic on my system because I occasionally get projects to mix that were tracked in Logic because I don't trust...

Are you saying that you can't use Wavelab with HD hardware? If so, I'm not having a problem at all. I have a HDX card that I use with Wavelab all the time.

You could add a Master Fader track instead of the additional auxiliary track and use that for monitor volume.
