This is an existing PT9 issue that is obviously unresolved in PT10.
Don't leave your iLok plugged in while booting. Put the iLok in either right before you launch or wait till that dialogue comes...

My dedicated audio drive is on a USB3 PCI card and it's FAST! It seems the hardware side of the computer world is moving faster than companies like Avid et al can keep pace with it.

If your Mac came factory with Leopard it's probably just 10.5.0 which is not compatible with PT 7.4.2, you'll need...
