Re: Allenstein OctaPC(8-core) and Quadzilla(4-core) *OS Update

The PSU is one of the biggest points of failure in these machines. I would suggest replacing it before it fails and takes your Windows install and motherboard with it. PSU failure is one of the few...

Re: Allenstein OctaPC(8-core) and Quadzilla(4-core) *OS Update

My experience is that three things can make the BIOS act wonky or change settings. A power surge or spike., Not having booted the computer in a long time or the back up battery could be going bad....

Re: Allenstein OctaPC(8-core) and Quadzilla(4-core) *OS Update

Out of curiosity what happens if you unplug all the drives but the boot drive? Will it boot?

Re: Allenstein OctaPC(8-core) and Quadzilla(4-core) *OS Update

I was going to say you can built a new system for 1/2 to 1/3 of the price of the orginal Quadzilla:-)

Re: Allenstein OctaPC(8-core) and Quadzilla(4-core) *OS Update

While I'm not versed too well in the original Quadzillas the best way to figure this out would be to get a hold of Tyan and see what processors are qualified with what board revision numbers what...

Re: Allenstein OctaPC(8-core) and Quadzilla(4-core) *OS Update

You should be able to get a cheapo PSU tester at MicroCenter, RadioShack where ever. Been my expirance they work well enough if the PSU is totaly blown. If the PSU is not putting out clean power it...

Re: Allenstein OctaPC(8-core) and Quadzilla(4-core) *OS Update

Might be faster to have them ship just a new BIOS chip and replace it your self. You will need a IC extractor from RadioShack to pull the old one out- the new just snaps in.

I know ASUS carries a...

Re: Tyan S2927A2NRF (Socket F) Motherboard Failure

PSU?

You might try A) Unplugging and reseating all the cards. B) Pulling and unplugging everything but the video card and seeing if it will boot. C) One of those cheapo PSU testers.

Re: Allenstein OctaPC(8-core) and Quadzilla(4-core) *OS Upd

Let us know what the solution is.

As picky as this FW stuff is Digi really should be packing a PCI card with the 003's and or selling approved FW cards in the Digi Store.

Re: Allenstein OctaPC(8-core) and Quadzilla(4-core) *OS Update

Other than the Dverb score hows it running PT?...
