Controlling plugins via midi

I'm looking at getting an Akai MPK261 and I was wondering if I'd be able to control things like cut off frequency in a synth plugin from the Akai?

It is not a paid add on anymore. Since PT9 bouncing to MP3 has been an included feature.

However, in PT10 there are a lot of people encountering this bounce to MP3 bug. I never found a way...

I reverted back to PT 9.0.6 and I still get the AppCrash errors when opening/creating a session. It's always preceeded by the popping sound in the monitors before it crashes. Makes me think it's...
