Same problem for me and very frustrating. I reloaded 12.8.1 after removing and deleting 12.8.2 and now my VCAs are active again as they were before.
Glad this was a simple fix I could do myself. ...

I thought I was doing something wrong. I'm glad to know this is a common issue with 12.5. I started just recently with 12.4 and was having no problems until I upgraded to 12.5. I am new to PT.
