Yep, any qualified firewire drive would work. Check the Digidesign site to see which drives/chipsets are qualified for use with protools.

I would run a lower OS and lower ProTools. Version 7 is not recommended for macs under 1GHz. I would run both the highest rated OS and matching ProTools. I'm not exactly sure what they are right...

Those are the classic symptoms of the power harness issue that is common with the 002's. Give Digi a call, and they should be able to send you a new power harness pretty quickly.

It is most likely the power harness/supply.

If you have registered your 002 with Digidesign, you can call them up and they will send you a new power supply pretty quickly.
