In the past I've miced everything up like this (and had some great results):
- A PZM in the cockpit (left quite low in the mix with a ton of reverb)
- A 'direct in' feed from the control tower...

I don't know the Midi sport at all, but the Emagic interfaces ROCK! (And no, i'm not on the payroll!!!) I've NEVER had a problem with the AMT8 or Unitor8.
