I run this type of setup and have been for years. You could certainly do it with an x-symphony and symphony 64 card pair, which is a great idea if you're doing any intensive tracking or outboard...

I actually had to do a fresh install of OSX Lion for this exact reason! When I first 'upgraded' from Snow Leopard and installed PT10, Pro Tools was not seeing my AAX folder either.
