I have Pro Tools 8 up and running with no problems at all .. Windows 8 has made my DAW so much more stable I can run as many rtas needed now with lil to no hiccups at all

Or you could just DL Alchemy Player from camel audio it plays soundfonts that way you dont have to convert and still use the sf2

How many processors show up? set it to halve of that so if you have 2 set it to one and for 4 set it 2 and so on

make sure youve done all the recommended optimizations for your OS on avids...
