It’s worse for me. I’ve now installed 14.4.1 and there’s no improvement. I’m essentially locked out of Pro Tools.


The iLok issue is fixed but now Pro Tools crashes if I try do anything at all...

Yuck, although I’m glad you’re up and running again! Thanks for responding. Looks like I’ll have to do a clean install also because 14.4.1 is just as bad as 14.4 my Pro Tools system.

So why couldn't Pro Tools verify any of my iLok-secured plugins? Do you know the reason and / or fix for this?

Sonoma 14.4.1 just released. My backup was nearly completed when I noticed it. Fingers crossed this fixes the issue. Otherwise I’ve downloaded 14.3.1 from MrMacintosh.com so would have to install...

As a side note, why does Avid persist with iLok? They cause nothing but problems. This 14.4 issue is most likely Apple’s fault, but iLok specifically is being affected and causing all DAWs to crash.

How long did this take to do? Can I do this but just revert back to Sonoma 14.3?

I’ve lost a day’s work because 14.4 has rendered Pro Tools completely unusable, in both native and rosetta modes....

Just updated to the 2023.9

When I press play on a mix that works fine on 2023.6, pro tools hangs and give me an error message saying not enough CPU power.

Trashed prefs but no luck.

Thanks for the reply! I'm saving to my internal hard drive. It does back up to iCloud regularly so not sure if this affects anything, but I've been having this issue for at least a year.

I'm having trouble with the automatic backups in Pro Tools. I have it set to every 2 minutes but I'll be lucky if I ever see 2 automatic backups 2 minutes apart.

You're a legend for this. Just downloaded MacUpdater and it says 41 of my plugins were in need of an update.

Pro Tools 2022.12 has been crashing for me a lot and this is possibly a big cause....

Perhaps check your licences. Even a muted plugin that needs re-authorisation will mute a channel's audio.

It works :)

CTRL + 9 (changed the custom shuttle speed to 140% in Pro Tools preferences) and off it goes.

I wish I could stay in 'smart tool' mode though. Maybe Pro Tools will update that one...
