Re: 002R and OS X 10.6.8 decisions

You can move the iLok on the Mac Pro with 10.6.8 to run PT10. If you wanted to run both systems at the same time, you can do a crossgrade to PT10 for $399 and get a second iLok.

Re: I7 Builds with Pro Tools 10

I use PC-Wizard from CPUID...it's a pretty decent little tool to give you stats on your hardware, including fan speed, CPU temps, video card info, etc. It's free and available at...

Re: Protools 8 and Mp3 option

I did this very thing last night for a client and I it sounded like crap! The difference between the MP3 version that iTunes created and the wave was night and day...the MP3 was thin and shrill...

Re: Pro Tools 10 Free Trial Update

Actually all AD/DA converters currently have a maximum of 24 bit. The 32 bit floating point audio file is converted "internally" within ProTools 10, if you select it when you created your session. ...

Re: Protools 10 to finally replace Sound Forge?

If I'm editing a multi-track session, I use ProTools; if I need to edit a mixdown, I usually use WaveLab as I can do my edits and create a CD or MP3 all in one place.

You certainly can use...

Re: Protools 10 to finally replace Sound Forge?

I tried the demo of CD Architect and I really liked it for putting together a CD for a client when they didn't have the budget to master. The price was really good too! I wish they had an OS X...

Re: Protools 10 to finally replace Sound Forge?

You might want to have a look at WaveLab 7 as it's now available on PC and Mac. It's been my go to wave editor since version 3.

Re: Open for suggestions.

I suppose you could get an HD|Native card and a 192 I/O for 16 channels of I/O or something like an SSL AlphaLink which can give you 24 channels of I/O. If sky's the limit, you could get an ICON...

I've also got one of these...

Re: Hard Drive Dock with iMac

Depends on the FireWire chipset it has...The Oxford 911, 912 and 924 chipsets are qualified for ProTools.

Re: Should I Have it Mastered?

From my quick listening, the Ozone version was better than the mastered version (judging as best you can through YouTube). There's lots of people out there that say they do 'mastering' but fall far...

Re: PT 9 Mbox won't boot just Ilok

If the Lightbridge has ASIO drivers for it (I'm assuming they do), then it should work with PT9

Re: Should I sell Apogees to go from LE to HD?

Sure...you would use a AES DSub cable from the AES-32 to the Rosetta for 8 channels of digital IO. I don't remember offhand, but you'd have to check to see which cable it uses...some are wired for...

Re: Should I sell Apogees to go from LE to HD?

I would consider the RME equipment as professional quality. Their drivers are pretty solid...

Pro's - High quality and you get 16 inputs at 192k (if you need to run that high). Optional cards...

Re: Should I sell Apogees to go from LE to HD?
