In my best attempts to get a good computer, it had
Shared video/system memory which was causing the crackle and also explains why the power meters in the mixer window was not continuous. Thanks...

Device manager has: Intel HD Graphics 530, and the Intel graphics control panel for settings. What/where else do I check? If this is it, is there a way around it or settings change to help?
