Re: Apple Keynote going

In the context of wanting PCI slots in a headless tower to run an HDX system... yes- it's like if the only car you could buy was a $300,000 sports car, but you just want to commute to work.

Re: Apple Keynote going

He's not super negative, he saved me the trouble of saying the exact same thing. RTL, RTL, RTL, that's why Avid DSP rocks if you track live musicians. It's like buying a digital mixer that lives...

Re: HDX vs Native

Because the 128 buffer is ON TOP of the time to pass through the native (host) processor. That time is ALWAYS there unless you are using hardware to bypass it (like HDX). You can't just count the...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

For their sake I hope you're wrong... they're trying to reinvent the wheel. We have a universally accepted design for workstations and it's great. It's compact, it's supported by hundreds of parts...

Re: Pro tools 2019 !

Leading question- I don't want ProTools to be innovative; I want it to be stable, reliable, efficient, and to offer a good work flow. If I was looking for innovative I would be looking at the weird...

Re: Pro tools 2019 !

Agreed, ProTools looks awful on Windows with dual displays and feels way less usable that way. The stacking menus and window title bars are just absurdly bad looking. I'm fine with Windows for a...

Re: is it best to master after converted to wav or can I do it before while in sessio

Assuming you keep your sample rate and bit depth the same when you print to WAV, it should make no difference. WAV is uncompressed, meaning no loss of quality.

Re: In what area is Pro Tools REALLY lacking??

My feeling is if you legitimately need 32+ inputs, you would never complain about the price of HDX anyway.

Re: In what area is Pro Tools REALLY lacking??

Begs the question why isn't 32 at a time enough? If you really need that capability, why not spring for the "pro" hdx version?

Re: In what area is Pro Tools REALLY lacking??

I'm curious, what are you recording that you need more than 32 inputs?

Re: In what area is Pro Tools REALLY lacking??

The amount of delay on the sidechain is almost never a problem. The attack time on compressors is usually much more of an issue. And when you actually run into an audible problem, create a key...

Re: In what area is Pro Tools REALLY lacking??

-Customizable hotkeys
-Deeper preference settings (for example, "MIDI tracks default to note view")
-Interface is butt ugly under Windows- needs true fullscreen display on multiple monitors
-VST...

Re: move multiple faders at once without having to group them first

Yes a momentary group... would be a wonderful thing to have this as a hotkey combo, wish I had it all the time.

Re: Has anyone working Skooch with PT11

Hilarious, a publicly traded company and there's implementation that reminds me of trying to buy moonshine in 1927.

Re: Any way to disable some of Avid's new shortcuts?

I remember asking for that feature some 15 years ago. Every time it comes up someone says "but it needs to be standard everywhere" like there's no such thing as saved preference settings. ...

Re: Has anyone working Skooch with PT11

Such garbage that Avid hasn't fixed something this important themselves. ProTools looks *awful* under windows. I look at other programs like Resolve and realize how neglected ProTools really is.

Re: HDX vs Native Geek Qs/Observations

The client will experience the lowest throughput latency with an HDX system with *any* buffer setting as long as you're doing it right.

With the HDX system you can set the buffer as high as you...
