So I found the issue. In Setup>Operations>Editing, "Separate Region" operates on all related tracks. De-selecting that stopped the issue. Even though the tracks were not grouped, they were all...

On opening the session I get the message "Some regions were truncated or removed from the region list or timeline because they referred to files which are too short"

That's a great guess, but no groupings and way too many regions being created. Lamost as if I were holding down the ctrl R keys constantly and it just keeps creating more regions. I will look at it...

But I don't think these are time stamped regions. As I was working on the session, regions were apparently being created for tracks I was not even creating regions on. So after working...

CRC error copying data2.cab on install

Just did a hardware exchange to a digi 003 rack factory with pro tools 8 and when i try to install pro tools i get a feature transfer error about a 10% of the way through

First Update PT 6.9 to 8.1

I am doing a HW upgrade from an MBox1 (PT 6.9) to a Rack 003 (PT 8.1) on an XP box. I will be upgrading to SP3. I have seached the DUC and see it is not uncommon for some to have issues...
