Spen, mate, this is what I was referring to by the whining. Remember the telly that came up when people saw that with pt 11, the legacy blue interface wouldn't work anymore and all the "b***ing*...

I'm going to be cynical here..

When Pt becomes 64 there's going to be an uproar because people who wants to upgrade will find their old hardware incompatible, it's already starting to show but...

it's a question of leaving time for the user base to upgrade. If Avid went 64 bit right away, too many things would just go poof and the user base would be stuck in a void of things that aren't...

I don't think this would have been possible on a TDM card to do faster than realtime but I could be wrong. The bridging would have cause more troubles as said by DTS.

Hm I can see a few things there, one the sandybridge (which I'm not using) may be a cpu that is not optimized in a way that PT can use well. Others might be able to better chime on this one than me....

I've been running PT on multi core cpu for a while now.. as long as you keep some for the OS and other tasks, I've never had a single problem

Dropping support for hardware like you suggest means that they would be dropping support of third parties hardware to. You want them to go back to a closed loop?

Double the production cost for programing two versions of the same program, one to support 32 bit and one that doesn't

And alienate the user base even more with cutting all the tdm hardware out of...

Yeah.. well a lot of those so called plugins do not work properly even with the Au bridge. Just go read their forums. Also when logic 64 came out, which is what less than 2 years ago, which is not...

Funny, HDX+ interface is les expensive than HD3+interface. Check sweetwater.com I'm tired of posting the links :D IN fact, HDX+interface is less expensive than HD2+interface....
