Re: Are we not due an update??!!

But any previous mixing is lost. Obviously you can open the track files, but without the mixing everything you have done is lost. Sometimes I want to do a few tweaks of a mix for video or other...

Re: Are we not due an update??!!

I'm confused. Why are you stuck? If at any point you buy a permanent license, you don't need to continue to pay Avid anything and you will always have backward compatibility for old projects. I...

Re: so happy i did not update my PT ...

You're not missing anything, and yet you're missing what others have learned. Because you have been using Pro Tools for decades you are familiar with it, know all of its quirks and workarounds, and...

Re: Are we not due an update??!!

I assume you mean low latency with FX, correct? Because obviously there are many zero latency interfaces that can monitor directly off the HW interface itself, regardless of the DAW being used. Most...

Re: so happy i did not update my PT ...

Not entirely true. The initial marketing of the subscription plan promised regular and significant upgrades. As part of that marketing they insisted that the subscription plan allowed them to put out...

Re: Free Cakewalk has real dual screen display on Windows

That's OK, but I'm not sure why you mentioned it. I didn't mention DP, and I have never seen it. I did mention Samplitude, Reaper, Studio One, and Magix Vegas Video editor. They all do docking, tabs,...

Re: Free Cakewalk has real dual screen display on Windows

What does font size have to do with tabbed windows and dockers? Really an off the wall comment IMO. Tabbed windows are time savers, and dockers de-clutter things. Completely unrelated to font size. ...

Re: Free Cakewalk has real dual screen display on Windows

I suppose so, and it's not ideal, but I would find tabs and docked windows a lot more useful.

Re: Free Cakewalk has real dual screen display on Windows

It translated just fine. The problem isn't the translation, it's the attitude. Having the ability to use separate windows, dockers, and tabs helps workflow, and they don't exist in PT. It's a...

Re: Free Cakewalk has real dual screen display on Windows

In the Windows OS most applications not named Pro Tools allow windows to be separated onto two monitors. I've only tried a handful, but they all do. Samplitude, Studio One, Reaper, etc. Sony/Magix...

Re: dbx160 emulation sources?

No, I don't see any presets for Major Tom. To be honest, I've had the plugin for a few years and never looked because I'm always setting everything up specifically for the track anyway.

Re: dbx160 emulation sources?

I had a DBX 160 for many years in my home studio. Since I didn't have a lot of gear, it got used a lot, so I was very familiar with it. When I sold it I wanted to replace it in software. I have the...

Re: Crashing on startup with 10.14.5

I'm not sure if this applies to Mac, but on the PC there is an "Unused Plugins" folder so you don't have to uninstall, then reinstall to find a problem plugin.

Re: Crashing on startup with 10.14.5

I don't use PT much any more, but in the past when I had problems like that in v10 it was usually plugin related. Removing some of the plugins would eventually make the problem go away, but I can't...

Re: Why I consider Avid Cloud a massive failure

While Avid is not responsible for internet speed, they are very much responsible for designing and building a product robust enough to withstand all manner of internet issues, including slow...

Re: PT 2019.5 plug-in efficiency

As you mentioned, there should be no difference for a single plugin on a single track, except that CPU shouldn't spike. But if the algorithm for using multiple cores has been optimized there should...

Re: New Undo Bug?

Seems odd. Isn't that an action a person would likely want to Undo?

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Maybe, but I'm not so sure jokes about a car that can drive 120 MPH, yet sometimes randomly comes to a complete stop with no warning, will be very funny to this group.

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

I don't think Waves felt Avid wasn't a major platform (strictly my opinion, no facts to back it up) rather, it seemed more like they saw HDX as competition and wanted to support their own platform....

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

I'm sure HDX is a limiting factor. How many of the issues are caused by having to integrate HDX, and how many are simply growing pains caused by so much turnover on the development team is hard to...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Even if the issue has not been resolved, it seems an isolated problem, and that most people would still use VST integration if it was available. There are number of VST only plugins that are worth...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Could you explain what you mean by that? What is it that you think is lacking? With VST every parameter can easily and quickly be automated, and most DAWs offer switches and envelopes to control any...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

I don't think any of the original PT developers have been with Avid in five years or so. Some have reported (and I don't know this as factual) that development for PT 11 was done offshore in the...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Has there ever not been a quarterly release? I think Avid has some sort of internal mandate to release quarterly, probably to encourage the subscription model.
