Re: So what exactly is the problem with RTAS anyway? Bad Code?

I posted this in another thread about basically the same thing...
I always thought RTAS was fine (CPU wise) for plugins too..

Re: Is AAX more efficient than RTAS?

I disagree. After 12+ years of being Pro Tools exclusive, i started to learn Reaper two weeks ago. I've done a few mixes now on reaper using the same routing/plugins i typically do in PT's.

In PT...

Re: In Response to Pro Tools HD 10 Feedback

The "one time offer thing" as i understand it is because usually you have to have your support contract in place BEFORE an upgrade release is available to qualify for the free upgrade.

Ordinarily,...

Re: Transition to AAX: A Real Programmer's Perspective

Thanks for all the info and your time Dave. Something that caught my attention was from Frank's posts:

"I should also mention that attaining bit-for-bit matching between Native and DSP may no...

Re: Protools 10HD upgrade to from 9 is 999.99 ..... WHY

Well, they ARE offering trade in's for the old hardware. You don't see Apple or most other hardware companies doing that. I went through the process of trading in a TDM system for an HD system and it...

Re: Protools 10HD upgrade to from 9 is 999.99 ..... WHY

I think the PT9HD iloks on ebay is a part of this too. I have one myself along with my regular PT9 license (and i still have a 7.4HD license from my old HD2 accel rig). ;)

If i were to guess about...

Re: Protools 10HD upgrade to from 9 is 999.99 ..... WHY

I posted this on GS..

There's only one "reasonable" theory i've come up with as to why CPTK2 upgrade is only $299 compared to the HD $999 upgrade.

THIS WILL BE THE LAST VERSION THAT CPTK2 WILL...

Re: Protools 10HD upgrade to from 9 is 999.99 ..... WHY

Does this worry anyone?

I just did a test on my iMac (that has had 2 updates since i got it) with 24/441 session.

I had 200 instances of The Glue and at a buffer of 1024 my cpu in PT was at...

Re: Protools 10HD upgrade to from 9 is 999.99 ..... WHY

"Pt9 + cpt > pt10 + cpt = $299

HD native 9 > HD native 10 = $999

Exactly the same software same functionality"

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING AVID!!!!!?????

Re: Manual Delay Comp Problem

Compensate for Delays After Record Pass in HD is a clusterfúck if you use other convertors
like Apogee also. And by that i mean, it doesn't work. Been down this road before.

Re: PTHD & Logic DAE?

Last time i tried Logic with DAE was with 7.4 HD i think..? Maybe a bit longer ago.
But i didn't use it after my initial tests as just doing a fader and pan only mix
resulted in a file that would...

Re: Elastic time Killing transients on Overheads

Forgot about this thread but i don't think that's what he's saying.

He's talking about how EA chooses which transient on what track to snap
ALL other tracks to the closest grid point (at whatever...

I have an mbox2 micro that i occasionally use for editing at home with the same issue.

This thread is quite long and a search didn't turn anything up but has anyone linked it
to similar issues...

Re: Elastic time Killing transients on Overheads

I could never get that workflow to work for me. Similar probs to you. I just
analyze all the drum tracks together and go through and remove/add/move
warp markers for all tracks.

Re: RTAS Performance on HD8

Although i'm quite a fanboy of OSX, i agree with this a lot!

It's a shame like you say it will never happen.

But having a partition/drive dedicated to pro tools and a it's own stripped down

Re: Why Can't I Compact Audio for EA Files?

110g per SONG?

Or the entire session/project?

Most albums for me vary from 100-150gig sometimes getting close to 200 on albums
when there's maybe 14 tracks.

I haven't actually checked...

5 seconds to open the session so i've never worried. If it made opening a session take
more like a minute i...

Re: Why Can't I Compact Audio for EA Files?

Oh right. I barely use the region list. I know the shortcut for exporting a file/region
and that's about all i sometimes use.

I wish i had the enthusiasm to push myself into exploring the program...

Re: Autotune 4 and PT 8

I upgraded to EVO a while ago and my HD rig is still 7.4 on PPC.

So many workflow improvements in EVO, it's definitely worth it!

Re: Why Can't I Compact Audio for EA Files?

I better understand your situation now after you posted more but
truth be told i don't know anything about "compacting" audio.

How do you do it?

My workflow has always been to just consolidate...
