Re: HDX in a TB chassis on a current MacBookPro - ?

Not to quibble, but I think it's highly likely that they had a chassis prior to the PE6R4.

I'm sure there have been "crashy" chassis, just not that one.

Re: HDX in a TB chassis on a current MacBookPro - ?

The PE6R4 configuration was not "crashy" at all. In fact, the chassis layer was basically invisible to the Mac Pro on an OS level. It was just like having a ton of slots in the Mac itself,...

Re: No Echo Farm AAX?

Our experience doesn't bear that out. We started out believing that, but it didn't take all THAT much exploration with more recent products to end up realizing that there are now better options....

Re: WTB: Pro Tools 9HD

Sorry, Chromefree and everyone, DUC was not notifying me of new messages. I have re-done all my prefs to adjust.

Re: No Echo Farm AAX?

For already completed projects, total recall is overrated. How often does it really come up? How long will it REALLY take to reset the one plug-in?

Yes, total recall is great. But is it essential,...

Re: No Echo Farm AAX?

Guys, Echo Farm was great ... but it's time to let it go.

My staff engineers were all bummed about it. We made a little project of exploring new alternatives for AAX, ended up discovering 2-3...

Re: 7,500+ Customers for AAX-DSP

I honestly have no idea if 7500 is a good or bad number. I do know that it represents about $20 million in net income, possibly much more. Now, is that good or bad, considering overall development...

Re: Am I nuts for trading my HD3 192 IO in?

I don't think Avid made any misleading statements about TDM plug-ins.

I never for one moment thought TDM plugins would work on my HDX system.

This is a complicated subject for some. I think you...

Re: FS: PT HD9 license

I also have one for sale, PM or email me if anyone's interested.

I was just about to post it on eBay, bundling it with a Pro Tools Instrument Expansion Pack (unopened), possibly some TDM plugins....

Re: Wait for New Mac Pro or iMac now?

You can grab a 2009 or 2010 Mac Pro for under $1500, sell your current one for a fraction of that. No Thunderbolt or chassis box required, no need for an iMac or to wait for the newest thing or to...

Re: Can you use an HDX 16x16 and a 192 I/O together

I personally will be very irritated with Avid if the blue 192 interfaces (at least) don't work with HDX on Pro Tools 11, at least as a second interface hanging off an Avid i/o. I know they promised...

First, your posts on GearSlutz are every bit as antisocial, destructive and pointless as your posts here. But GearSlutz and the DUC are two different forums with two different purposes. I think you...

Re: Legacy???

Frankly, your answer, while apparently honest, is not really adequate.

It's great that everyone gets the benefit of the doubt, but this user clearly exhausted any such benefit many weeks ago,...

Re: Legacy???

Honest question for the mods — why hasn't Marsdy been banned yet?

He's contributing absolutely nothing, while making it impossible for other users to make good use of these forums.

There is no...

Re: Waves Will NOT Be Supporting AAX-DSP!!!

Listen, I'm not a Waves hater -- I don't think they're evil or whatever -- but FWIW, I made the decision for our shop to go Waves-free about four years ago. I have not regretted it. It has been a...

Re: Waves Will NOT Be Supporting AAX-DSP!!!

Except that under Pro Tools 10, HDX, Native and HD Native systems have four times more delay compensation time than HD TDM systems. (As does HDX.)

Re: Current AAX PI's in the future PT

I don't think any bridge will be necessary for AAX plugs. It makes no sense for a developer to port to AAX and then not port to 64-bit. Probably for free in most cases. The whole point of AAX is that...

Re: Where to find free upgrade to 10?

Thank you, that does make sense. This is the first I've seen of the Oct 20 deadline for having purchased an upgrade. Prior to this, all I'd ever seen was "after Oct 1," so I was not worried when the...

Re: Where to find free upgrade to 10?

I have a related question, may as well ask it here.

I purchased my HD9 upgrade in October and registered it in November. Three weeks later, I too have not received any upgrade info for HD10.

Re: Urgent help - audient asp008 aes and digi 192

If you're ruled out the obvious, the likeliest cause does seem to be the snake.

There are two different popular standards for running four stereo channels of AES/EBU through a DB25 connector. Are...

Forced? By whom or what, exactly, were you forced? I think you know that you made your own choice here. There isn't anything that Waves (of all companies!) has released that's going to change the...

Re: Installing Waves prior to client arrival.

A few notes for James ...

First, you're going to have to talk to your client about this. He is probably all too familiar with the topic anyway. Ask him if his WUP is up to date, and if not, what...

Re: SoundToys V3 - They\'re here!!!

Why for a "limited" time? Why not just have a standing upgrade price?
