+1 - you hit it right on the head.

PT will always at the very least be in charge of editing/mastering an all-audio mixdown in my studio.
But the project can be produced using almost anything...

That way if you lauch PT with your interface off...

The VI's you've mentioned do of course benefit from a 64bit environment, but that's why we have apps like Vienna Ensemble etc to use as hosts for these VI's.
Doing things this way means Pro Tools...

My DAW over the years has been problem-free, and I know it's because of this - and not just Pro Tools of course - all DAW software has worked glitchless on my...

I guess the thing is; expensive studios with Pro Tools (HD or otherwise) certainly wouldn't dream of potentially "poisoning" their setups with items unrelated to music...

There's something to be said for now being able to open your laptop in front of friends and family to show them what you've produced on Pro Tools, without having to set up any other external...
