I've checked all my plugins, 90% are 1-2 yrs old. The ancient ones are Air FX from back in 2015, but there's nothing newer for them on website.

It was that way with TDM as well. Trying to use native in record mode automatically goes into bypass. Like you mentioned, using a DSP plugin first 'fixes' that.....

Latency is usually proportional to the sample setting. Going from 128 to 256 means the latency at 256 is double what it was at 128. If you're switching from 128 to 512, its gonna be 4 times as much...

I would concur. And just do that on a couple tracks/stems. Trying to make everything sound 'wide' just ends up creating the illusion that nothing's wide any more :-)

Have a system very similar to yours, running Mavericks. I'm able to run VTM 1.1.13 ok. But if you're having problems, try downgrading to RTAS 1.1.9.9. In my experience, not all AAX plugs...
