Still loving my 11R after 7 years of ownership and 7 albums. I will upgrade at some point, but for now, it still gets the job done for me.

Also, it seems likely to me that Avid will continue to support Eleven Rack drivers for some time, even if nothing else changes about the unit. After all, you can still buy a new 11R from Sweetwater...

I'm not quite sure what you mean here. Are you referring to the 11R input/effects loop or the Mesa Boogie's?

In any case, here's what I do:

I run a compressor and overdrive in front of the 11R...

I think that it is important to note that the lack of support for El Capitan is not limited to the 11R. Avid is not supporting the OS yet for any of its software or hardware (as of 10/1):

I had loads of intermittent S/PDIF issues between my 11R and my Saffire Pro 40 until I got a high quality cable. Everything is perfect now.
