Apparently there may be issues trying to install anything lower than Snow Leopard. Until I get my mac I really don't know how it will work with 8.0.1pr.

Ok makes sense. So what you're telling me is that with a new MBP, if I want more than one device on the FW bus, I have to stick with the same FW speed for evrything? Therefore limiting me to FW 400...

In your scenario, can't I use the 800 port coming from the MBP to the 800 port in to the drive etc.?
