harmonizer

Hi all.
I've been using PT TDM for many years but I'm kinda new to LE. I've been trying to find a good harmonizer available in LE but have been unsuccessful. Anyone using something they like?

Re: what if you have a vocalist with a horrific es

Usually if I can't get what I want with plugins I'll pull out the DBX 902. It can get pretty drastic if you need it to. If need be I'll edit or automate the worst "ess" offences.

Re: Studio Drums

It's difficult not knowing what kind of music you're recording.

If it were me and I were recording rock drums, I'd use small diaphram condensers on the overheads, no compression. Something like...

Re: Tape Sync to PT?

If I remember right there is an issue with the Lynx and JH-24's. Something about a mod needed. Please check with a tech so you don't blow [bleep] up.

Re: phase reversal

That's the best way. Put asingle band EQ on both channels and flip the phase button on one. If you suddenly hear a bunch of low end that was missing, or the sound moves from way outside the speakers...

Re: What FX do you use for professional records?

Unfortunately I think you'd be trying use plug-ins to emulate standalone boxes. You might try some of Charles Dye's posts. Depends a lot on the style of music you're doing. Some dance or Hip-Hop guys...

Re: 4 or 8 tracks for drums? drum mic theory

1. If you like what you have now, don't mess with it.
2. 57's can be fine on toms but you'll need to boost some lows and cut some mids, maybe that's why you didn't like the sound.
3. Make sure your...

Re: Shure SM7 microphone

I used an SM7 today on male lead vocal. Beat out a U47. The singer had a bit of an "ess" problem.

Re: mixing question

You might want to try another amp. Couldn't get the 2000 to sound like I wanted for recording, sounded a
little scratchy & small for my taste.

Re: Micing Kick Drum...Using 2 mics

Try doing a little carving in those frequencies. I always thought the 52 was a little thick and muddy for my taste.

I think you're going to get the high end (attack) from the inside mic. Try...

Re: Sound Replacer Help Needed!!

For some reason, the drummers I record often play louder in the fills, in which case I'll automate the sample or mute it altogether. Also I always leave the dynamics off with SR.

Hope that helps.

Re: Superdrives

In addition to the Toast tip, I've found that Apple DVD's gave me no headaches and the Superdrive seemed to be brand finnicky. Anyone find any other brands that work especially well?

Re: "Disc too slow or too fragmented"

I was getting that with an external FW drive and it turned out I had some 3rd party firewire extensions enabled which were causing a conflict.

DVD backup with Toast

For those of you backing up in this manner, do you bother waiting for the verification? Adds a lot of time to the process, is it OK to skip this step?
