Re: Do you shut down your Mac Pro at night?

Your post confirms what I suspected which is that there's no easy way to remotely boot a mac. I'll locate it within easy reach. Thanks for the info.

Re: Do you shut down your Mac Pro at night?

The scheduled start is a good idea. I had forgotten about that -did it for a while in the 90's with whatever Mac I had then.

Is there a physical device that can remote start it (not a second...

Re: Do you shut down your Mac Pro at night?

Ha, I don't to start another gear-on vs gear-off debate!

I'm really just wondering if you keep the Mac Pro on all the time if there are any issues.

Do you shut down your Mac Pro at night?

I keep my studio gear on, but in the past I've shut down my Mac in the evening after doing a backup. This was mostly to let the hard drives and TDM cards cool down, but I also found that after...

Digidesign MIDI IO with PT 2018 / High Sierra?

Does anyone know if this is compatible in the current world? Drivers, Firmware etc? Last time I used it was many years ago with a much different (older) system.

Thanks

Re: C24 to S3? Some questions for you

Can some fader groups (I use 5 groups) just be assigned to soft keys on the Dock or S3? I wouldn't want to use up those faders on the Dock for VCA spills.

Also, when using the Dock in...

Re: C24 to S3? Some questions for you

Thanks for the info!

Regarding the buttons for markers, the reason I asked was because I create "fader groups" with the C24 using track show/hide setup saved as a marker, so I can hit a marker...

C24 to S3? Some questions for you

I'm thinking of making the switch from C24 (very happy with this) to the S3 + Dock, but have a few questions about what I consider to be key features that were missing 4 years ago when I briefly...

Re: 4k Monitor, do fonts look more crisp vs 2k?

Thanks for the info. Based on my research here with a lot of people complaining here that the 4k scaling with PT is not well implemented, and a discussion with a well informed salesperson at Best...

Re: 4k Monitor, do fonts look more crisp vs 2k?

Do you find the fonts look more clear (detailed) at 4k?

4k Monitor, do fonts look more crisp vs 2k?

I'm putting a 32" monitor in my center speaker sophit wall. This will be for inter room communication via cameras (only need 1080p for that) but it can also be an extra PT monitor. I already have...

Re: IO Insert mono to stereo with delay comp?

That's throws off the timing since the delay compensation algorithm does not know how to handle it? For example, your timed delay may no longer be in sync with the beat.

Hi, my system is down right now so I am unable to check this. Can someone tell me if the hardware IO Inserts would allow this set up and also have correct delay compensation for the inserts?

Re: More bit-depth equals more headroom?

Another way to think about what has already been well stated is this:

16bit provides 96db of dynamic range. Your analog gear (and the analog section of your AD converter is likely 100db dynamic...

Re: What the heck?

It's fine if there is one SG, but when you have two going at the same time they seem to interact. It's like they are drawing from the same source for the tone or something.

Re: 10.3.10 unstable

There's definitely something up with 10.3.10. I've been mixing a song with 10.3.9 with no problem. Did a clean install of 10.3.10 (deleted prefs so everything was fresh) and Pro Tools kept crashing...
