Personally I have an emu esi 2000. You can get them for like $300 off ebay.
But, I have found software samplers are generally better if your demands dont overly stress the host cpu. I'd advise you...

os 10 is a multi threading, multi tasking os that supports multi processing at its os core.
That would lead me to beleive that all software run on it benefits from the dual cpu's.

Macs are more stable. But athlon based pc's will allow you way more plug in instances. Yet, direct connect, and softsynths in general are non-existant on PT for PC.
Nowadays rtas support is decent...

Supposdedly digidesign said february regarding xp.Multi processing in XP is handled by the OS, so I dont see how PT at that point wouldnt work with dual cpu's.
