Re: New Mac Pro

Certainly you can't have Avid qualify it, but I have 7980xe (18 core) hacks I've built that cost about 3k each with a 2tb m.2. They comfortably overclock to 4.5g and are monster machines for audio...

Re: Constant CPU Errors Making Sessions Slow and Unworkable

Bumping to say definitely trash prefs and AAE prefs, this app is easy to use on mac-

http://petegates.com/pg-pt-prefs.html

I've needed to trash prefs for every .x revision of PT since 2018. ...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Unfortunately this isn't true in practice. Each time a DSP system sends audio from the card and back it is eating CPU resources, and adding round trip latency to the session.

The same thing with...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

I don't care for them integration wise...for me I want everything under one roof. So I was glad to get rid of VEP, glad to get rid of TDM, not interested in HDX and not interested in soundgrid.

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

I think a heck of a lot of people are judging the performance of native based on 10+ year old computers (westmere and older).

I don't have many 9xxx problems with my 7980xe hacks, even at 64...

Re: Pro-Tools Sabotaging My Projects!

If you want a solution, learn to use the import session data function AFTER you create a new session for each of your projects. Shft+cmd+I.

This way you can import all the tracks, names etc...

Re: C'mon Man!!!! (Pro Tools and Hyperthreading)

Interesting...I'm much happier without VEP since PT11. I've been running hacks that are more powerful than any mac sense then as well, but I have a 12c trashcan too and it's the same for it.

For...

Re: C'mon Man!!!! (Pro Tools and Hyperthreading)

Point taken. It is reasonable that people who down the hackintosh road need to take more personal responsibility for their own tech support...My systems run a lot better with hyperthreading on.

Re: Pro-Tools Sabotaging My Projects!

It sounds like maybe you are opening the same session every time you start something new and then doing a save as and delete (remove) everything?

If so this is very bad practice. I've nearly...

Re: 32 Channel IO Limit.. WHY?

Hmm, I have mine on 2.3.4, is there something newer? I did try to go back to 2.1.8 at one point and you can't. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but I thought when I tried it in digilink mode,...

Re: 32 Channel IO Limit.. WHY?

When I had my HDN card installed, I could still switch to the red 8pre as a TB interface in PT. Didn't use it much because on my systems (7980xe hacks) the Red has better low latency performance...

Re: 32 Channel IO Limit.. WHY?

This is my issue exactly. I'm setting up a new studio space and will be using 4 Red 8 Pre's to interconnect the rooms. The studio will be modular, so 2 or more rooms can be combined for larger...

Re: C'mon Man!!!! (Pro Tools and Hyperthreading)

I find it amusing people defending a company that has completely abandoned their professional users. At this point, apple is lucky that people are building the machines they SHOULD be building...

Re: In what area is Pro Tools REALLY lacking??

You can already do this-

select all tracks you want to add the new send too, then hold shift+opt before you click in the send/plugin/ouput box. Once you make the assignment it will add it to all...

Re: Request for new modifier key

I know it's not the same as a single key to toggle, but if you hit F6 it will cycle through the different modes of the trim tool. I find this to be fairly easy to get used to for cycling between TCE...

I always preferred having sonwarworks on an aux and using even another aux as a master when I was using it. This way you can create a bus that you bounce from and out SW after that bus and not have...

Re: Now that Pro Tools includes Falcon, will we see MPE support implemented soon?

I also hope so.

Even if the first implementation doesn't have any sort of amazing or innovative editing features for MPE CC and PB data. I just want to be able to record MPE and comp takes etc...

Re: X-OR record, is it possible?
