The converters in the 001 aren't the best in the world but good enough to record with some reasonable results. I still use the 001 but never had problems with them as you descride...

My concern would be types and sizes of reverb.. (if any) reverb works by adding a sense of space around the instrument or voice which can pull it back within the mix and thus make it more difficult...

I don't get everyone raving about Maxxbass... If you get the recorded sound right then it shouldn't need an enhancer to make it cut in the mix..
Maybe it would be better to explain to the bass...

A work around would be to import the first 30 tracks into your session and make some rough mixes.. then bounce to disk the mix.. then import the bounce file into a new session with the remaining...

if your only looking for a little loudness using the L1 then bring the threshold down to the point that it starts to reduce the peaks this will increase the average percieved loudnes of the Audio......

Gary I'd disagree on you statement about NFM's yes bigger monitors can reproduce the bass frequencies better but listening at high SPL's can alter the way in which the ear will actually respond to...

Is it the transients or an average level that is different?
It's pretty normal to be slighlty imbalanced.. unless you have a complete mono mix the levels will vary from side to side a little usually...

You need to use the spot function, then when you select a region it will give you a dialogue box type in you time point either bars and beats samples or mins and seconds...

A couple of tricks that I use ...

in no particular order....
Balance the drums and Bass especially the kik and bass then mute the bass while bring inthe guiatrs and voxs...

Always keep you vox...
