Well. I seem to have found a work-around, as far as importing video goes.

I extracted the audio from the video in another programme, imported the video without the audio, then imported the audio...

UPDATE:
When I import and audio, I can re-record it internally, to another audio track, THEN the wave forms show up! :cool:

Recording audio from the Pro Tools synth is not a problem. I have to...

In my (naive) excitement, I uninstalled PT V10. How can I get it back?

I'll have to use V10 for sequencing, recording and editing, and use V11 for mixing only.

I need to see the waveforms!

No need to be embarrassed; mine are in "Waveform" mode, and they are STILL calculating.

Are you on HD? Does it matter? is this a "global" Pro Tools bug?

.... by that, do you mean, right click on the clip in the regions bin, then select, "Recalculate Waveform Overview"? Still no improvement here.

Me too. It's only a problem if I have to edit the file after I import it. Once, I had to edit in Audacity, then re-import.
