Re: Pro Tools Dynamics

Forgive me. Going back to the sampler to tweak an ADSR envelope is immensely better than anything that can be done in a DAW, and the only way to make sure it doesn't sound like it has a band aid on...

Re: Pro Tools Dynamics

Absolutely.

Though, if he means "sample" in the way I took it, fixing the source (i.e. replaying with all the sonic goodness that made him sample the part to start with) may not be an option.

Re: Pro Tools Dynamics

There are a bunch of ways; fade at the start, volume automation, grabbing the pencil tool and trying to draw it out, audiosuite only the part of the sample you want to compress or lower the volume...

Re: Master Channel

This is funny. I can't tell you how many sessions I've received to mix that had no master fader. It's a simple thing to create it, but it's always rubbed me the wrong way, right there with not...

Re: Pro Tools Recording Tips?

Maybe also try close mic'ing in conjunction with the other suggestions.

You'll have the proximity effect to deal with, but you'll be getting more direct sound than being further away.

I...

Re: Has Avid Changed How They Handle Regions?

Ahhh, gotcha.

I see what you mean now.

After Shift+Ctrl+B, I'd just make sure "clear" was highlighted and hold down the return key to delete each one, but in effect I am "clicking on each...

Re: Has Avid Changed How They Handle Regions?

...Really? I'm still on 8.0.4 by the way.

Ya know, I don't think I even knew Alt+Delete was a shortcut for that.

Shift+Ctrl+B was the one I always used after Shfit+Ctrl+U.

Re: Keep record armed?

You could set up loop record also right? Maybe put a bit of buffer on the start and end of the selection to help with resetting finger positions if needed? No space bar needed at all after the...

Re: Files, Links, Consolidation

Under Setup (I think) look in Disk Allocation. That should tell you where your .wav files are being saved to.

Click on a line and hold and a box should pop up that will allow you to browse to...

Consolidate your regions

Select unused regions and delete them (clear)

Re: acoustic treatment question

Built some acoustic panels out of OC703 (2inch for walls and 4inch for corners), MDF board, and burlap for a square-ish (ceiling has several angles to it) room in my house.

Cheap, easy, and...

Re: Modifying or Un-doing Audio suite processing

Even better! Thanks! I usually have a wordpad open for notes on the entire song, which is why I'd add AS settings, but this saves some typing for sure!

Re: Modifying or Un-doing Audio suite processing

The original region should be in the regions list located on the right side of your edit window. Click the tiny arrow to open it up if it's not already open. As far as I know you can't modify a...

Re: Any Of You Still Using Hardware Synths With Your PT Setup?

Much the same happened to me; the more I embraced VI's the more dust my two Tritons and MPC collected. I got rid of the Tritons one by one, but held out on the MPC. It was an original 2000 that had...

Disk allocation still good for your tracks?

I remember a friend of mine (who did all of his recording directly to an external) used to have issues with his allocation acting all squirlely. Audio...

Re: GC has 3 new MBOX listings (MBOX, mini, pro)

Well now! That sounds fantastic! Can't wait to see the new 00 then.

If they keep this up I may forget about the Digidesign name altogether.

Ha! I just went and took a gander at my old Mbox 1...

Re: GC has 3 new MBOX listings (MBOX, mini, pro)

I gotta say... This looks exciting for PT's future.

Wonder how much has really changed with the guts though (pre-amps and converters).

Re: ProTools: a dying breed.

In the end they (DAW's) are all just screw drivers and wrenches. Just grab the one that works for your project and shut your trap.

Re: Pro Tools placing sound EARLY??

Yes, please! I'm hoping this'll be square before my remodeling is done. It's a great release otherwise.
