Re: PT11 automation bug?

Yeah I was thinking about what might happen if you play back from closer than the required adc time, but I cant see why it would matter. The automation is all supposed to be time stamped now anyway....

PT11 automation bug?

Hi

The other day I was automating a vocal for de-essing and found that on some playbacks the automation didn't work. To explain...I'd come across an S that I wanted to duck, reduce the level,...

Re: Delay compensation of I/O plug on parallel Auxes broken?

Your hardware inserts should definitely be compensated in HD. That session hasn't somehow got stuck using the wrong engine in the playback settings?

Sounds like something is wrong somewhere.

Re: Which Macpro 12 core: 2.4GHz or 2.6GHz?

There's a CPU vs DAW cycle, whereby there are periods when systems seem to have effortless headroom, and then the plug in manufacturers respond with plug ins which eat ALL of that up and we're back...

Re: Delay Compensation Question

Hi Bookerv112

If you're using hardware inserts to analogue processors outside the box, and ADC is on and working correctly, there should be no phasing/misalignment. They should be bang on if the...

Re: My HDX system one year later!! What a waste of money.

A few thoughts reading this:

1. The fact that you can't run all of your plug ins in DSP does not mean that the card isn't doing anything. It's taking a significant strain off the host by running...

Re: Delay Compensation Question

Ah ok I see. I think you're a brave man to track drums across different converters deliberately. It must be a nightmare adjusting for those latency differences, not to mention any differences in...

Re: Delay Compensation Question

Understood.

But there are limited times in which you'd need to measure the latency surely. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking 1. If you're using outboard with digital conversion or processing,...

Re: Delay Compensation Question

More accurate? Trust me, nothing is more accurate than firing a tone out and having a look at when it comes back yourself. That's accurate!

Re: My HDX system one year later!! What a waste of money.

Well hang about....the card is not just plug in DSP, it's a dedicated mixer. And that provides things like very low latency regardless of 'load', delay compensation for your sidechaining, Heat...

Re: Low Latency Monitoring with HD Native

Awesome! Very useful measurements. To add further context, Hd accel with a 192 is 2.4ms at 44.1kHz.

Re: Low Latency Monitoring with HD Native

OK, so there are two approaches to this...You can monitor through the PT mixer in the same way as you used to do with your old HD cards, by setting the buffer size very low. If you have a powerful...

Re: Recording with rhytmic delay plugin on HD Native

Yeah looking at that spec you should be able to run the lowest buffer no problem.

Re: Recording with rhytmic delay plugin on HD Native

Well I'm afraid that's the limitation of native systems...If you can't reduce the buffer size then you have to tolerate the latency. Couple of possible workarounds....Try quickly printing the rough...

Re: Moving from HD2 Accel to PT HD Native?

Well I've found HDN on a Westemere 8 core to be way more powerful than my G5 HD3 rig. WAaaaay more.

As mentioned if you're running a higher buffer eg with a really intensive mix, you will then...

Re: Who is Running PT 11 HD Native successfully

I don't think Slate is AAX64 yet is it?

Massey is really crucial for me. And UAD.

Re: Who is Running PT 11 HD Native successfully

I've been starting to run it for a few things and have found it very good. The problem is that because we're still waiting for quite a few plug ins, it's harder to run 'proper' sessions on it....

Re: Audio level alignment across HD I/O & Omni

The HDIO is freely adjustable over a normal range of values, but the Omni is fixed at the input (-20dbFS) and adjustable with trims at the output. The trims are coarse when you're matching voltages,...

Re: Whats the lowest Buffer Size possible with an Omni HD using with HDX card?

No I always track at 32 on HDN. It performs extremely well. Obviously machine dependant (I'm using a 2010 Westmere 2.4 8 Core...so still the current mac pro)

Re: HD native tracking question

BTW...I do agree that latency is an issue, and HDX is really strong in that respect. But TDM or HDN at 96k are also extremely fast.

Re: HD native tracking question

There must be something wrong there. LLM is way less than old HD TDM at 44.1kHz. Without it, at 32 samples you should be seeing about 3.2ms round trip vs 2.4ms old HD TDM. I suspect something is not...

Re: HW insert delay comp in PT11 (and OMNI question)

Yes...HDN compensates inserts automatically just as TDM and HDX do. The issue is that the Omni isn't the best interface for this because it's not organised in 'pairs' in quite the same way as say an...

Re: HD native tracking question

Well, overdubbing onto a mix with a lot of VI's and plug ins is a problem in all DAWs. It doesn't matter how fast or stable the system...unless you use entirely low latency plug ins, you will have a...
