The problem really lies in the drivers for the 001 hardware, not the Pro Tools software. The DAE causes a lot of the hang-ups.

You have the drivers for Windows 98SE only. The ME drivers come with 5.1 only. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I have 2 Shure BG5.1 condenser mics and they are awesome for acoustic guitar and vocals. You can get one for around $150 from just about any major music retailer. Hope this helps.

I have never heard of this exact problem with the 001 before. It sounds as if your system runs out of memory after running for a long period of time and just gives up, like the RAM...

No, I was unable to even launch Pro Tools. What are the specs on your system? Do you get any erros or freezes? Maybe I can help you anyway.
