I disagree on your first point - a TDM card is just a dedicated DSP. With driver support (not Avid's strong suit, I suppose) it should be able to run just as fast as its little legs can carry it -...

Yes, the OP is right as to why it's not 64-bit, but Avid could have gone about it two different ways:

1.) re-code RTAS and TDM to handle faster-than-realtime (or slower, I suppose) audio...
