Re: PT freezing every 5 seconds, for 2 seconds

Like many others, this started happening to me yesterday.

According to Avid, it is an issue with in-app anonymous reporting but why so many yesterday? Is this anonymous reporting bi-directional?...

Re: New Mac Pro setup with OWC Ram and Accelsior SSD with New Mac Pro

Iíve copied terabytes of sample libraries on Mac OS Extended Journaled formatted drives to APFS m.2 drives in my new 7.1 MP and everything has worked perfectly. Same with countless audio files, PT...

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

Avis has revised the slot configuration for 7.1 Mac Pros. Makes more sense now.

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

For reference.

Both these PCIe adapter cards are working great in the 7.1 nMP for single NVME’s.

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

Thanks Daryl.
I was using 6x SSDs arranged as RAID 0 pairs for Kontakt before the new Mac Pro. Each pair ran at 730MB/s. I had my libraries distributed across the three drives so the load was...

Re: New MacPro

Yep weird and a little worrying at first. Until today the only PCIe card was the Sonnet but the kernel panics were happening before I put that in. 10.15.4 has fixed them though - 36 hours rock solid...

Re: External SSD

I think the card he was hosts an NVMEa and a SATA m.2 drive. There are quite a lot of cards that do that.

Re: External SSD

If the Accelsior PCIe m.2 Drive is SATA, and Iím guessing it is, then those speeds seem in the right ballpark. NVME m.2 drives are a lot faster.

It looks like your Crest card can host one NVME...

Re: New MacPro

Yes mine came with 10.5.2. The kernel panics were totally random. Iíve not even installed PT yet. From downloading in Safari, running Blackmagic Speed Test, leaving the room with just Finder running,...

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

My thinking is streaming samples from four drives concurrently will be faster -
4x 3000MB/s vs 1 x 8000MB/s. Although most of my sample libraries are Kontakt some are not and work better streaming...

Re: New MacPro

Iíve had mine 24 hours and been having regular kernel panic with spontaneous restarts. I also have the W5700X. It seems the W5700X is maybe the cause with some early adopters getting the same...

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

I went with the Sonnet m.2 4x4 in the end. Apparently you can use the Highpoint card without a driver but lose control over the fans which is quite loud it seems. What swung the Sonnet for me is that...

Re: Pro Tools HDX2 working on new Mac Pro

Trying to fathom this as my nMac Pro is due today!

The upper Aux power socket on the motherboard is 6 pin, the lower two pairs are 8 pin.

What Iím wondering is - are the Aux power sockets...

Re: Sonnet M.2 4x4 PCIe Card fan noise or OWC Accelsior

I think they were talking about transfer speed of data from individual M.2 cards and not the date transfer capability of the card itself.

This is their exact claim:

Interesting that they...

Re: Sonnet M.2 4x4 PCIe Card fan noise or OWC Accelsior

Sonnet is quoting up to 12,000MB/S in JBOD mode!

Yes faster is better!

Kontakt sample libraries are getting VERY greedy if you start loading multiple mic positions.

Also the faster the...
