Re: 2018.12 No new features?

As far as I remember, Avid promised constant development and compatibility releases (bug fixes) are kind of new features. I'm not defending Avid here, but in my book it is just like that. The #1...

Re: Delay Compensation / Bussing Feedback Question

No. It is not just multiplying. You get that by raising the volume fader.

Bussing means you have an output point on the mixer, thus minimum 1 sample latency. Feedback to the same channel surely...

Re: PT 2018.12 Surprise Release

Re: PT 2018.12 Surprise Release

Yes, from my perspective. Apple had made a major change to APFS for SSD storage and in High Sierra it was buggy to say it aloud. Mojave still isn't supported, but 2018.12 works more effectively now...

Re: New laptop mobile recording and mixing

I think they are more or less on par soundwise but RME might be more suitable for portable use

Re: PT 2018.12 Surprise Release

This release is *slightly* better at lower buffers, and pretty solid on Mojave

Re: Strange digital noise on input 9-16 Avid HD I/O 1616

I think clocking errors would spike on every channel, not just 9-16

Re: Best Imac for Protools 2019

Yes.

Re: Mojave & hyperthreading off

Yes, you only have 12 real cores that do the work. That isn't cutting performance to half. Think of hyperthreading as a worker that is laying bricks with both hands, instead of one. Seems to be a...

Re: Mojave & hyperthreading off

Why not 1 buffer instead? That is the absolute minimum. It would just mean fewer track/plugin count than ever...

Re: Mojave & hyperthreading off

Yea there is no such thing as zero latency. HD systems build up latency as you add plugins, didn't you know? If I have some stuff on the mixer that the artist wants, the DSP latency is easily about...

Re: Mojave & hyperthreading off

No, just as enabling it doesn't double it. Hyperthreading has always been shaky due to its nature. True, the core might be idle at times, and giving it something else to do is a good idea for OFFLINE...
