Which Tape Machine is Best?

I love the sound of tape. I never record more than 2 tracks at a time, so I am thinking about buying a good quality low(er) maintanance tape machine so I can feed tracks into PT.

I use a whole bunch of Sonnox plugins which to my ears seem pretty good. If I can my hands on some free plugins to help me with mixing I'd be interested to try them out. Where is the place on the net...

You're right. One of our good friends used to work as a mixer/co-producer for Kylie Minogue in the UK. The first thing he was taught by the more senior engineers was to make use of whatever is around.

Everything is connected with an SPDIF cable. Out from the RME into Mbox.

Generally, unless there is a specific need I would avoid any upgrade. Computers and temperamental creatures - yes, even Macs! As long as everything works, just don't bother with it.

Thanks man. Actually it's strange because when I called Digidesign support (Asia Pacific) they advised my Mac OS X is not compatible with my version of PT. I'll investigate further. KA.
