Problem solved! A friend with a macbook pro copied the latest driver onto his computer (he doesn't use pro tools) and then went into his utilities and and opened up audio midi setup and we then...

so i did install that driver and also did the unplugging of the Mbox and into another USB. No change ...
Device manager is a PC thing - i did a google search for mac equivalent - so...

Thanks for replying and glad you got yours sorted! mine isn't moisture as far as i can tell- everything else is working fine. I might try a powered USB as someone suggested...
