Re: ADC on Mic Pres - how important???

I must be getting my PT's confused. I was able to load the FW drivers for the 1814 in conjunction with the 003 drivers no problem. PTLE sees them but won't actually let you select them for...

Re: Pro Tools Power User Editing - The Skunk Works Project

Right, that's pretty evident in QK.

I found what appears (so far) to be the problem. Learning that it probably isn't a software issue I reconsidered the hardware involved. My DAW is physically...

Re: Pro Tools Power User Editing - The Skunk Works Project

Yeah, I know what you mean. No, in this case the only difference between a vertical scroll versus a horizontal scroll is whether the shift key is down. When I first noticed this issue, I though it...

Re: ADC on Mic Pres - how important???

Does what you're saying apply ONLY to PTM, or will the 2626 correctly work with a PTLE/003?

It seems that in all the literature I've read, and the standalone FW drivers for the 2626, there is not...

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

For those interested, I just installed a Noctua NH-U12P SE 1366 cooler on my i7 system, Asus P6T. This is one very effective cooler and probably some of the nicest workmanship I've seen in these...

Re: Pro Tools Power User Editing - The Skunk Works Project

Shan(e),

Have you experienced any issues with the Horizontal Scroll fix? I'm finding that as I zoom way in, maybe 6-8x, as I move around horizontally with the scroll wheel, there is a random...

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

I'd say it's several tads low. I'd want to see 500-600 watts minimum for these types of boards.

If you have BFD2 set to Load On Demand, it is considerably tamed. In this list, Eleven is by far...

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

Yes, this is with CS2. Guess I should add that to my sig. There was a difference between the 24 tracks being with 10 inserts, or the aux track equivalents at 5 inserts each. I wonder if any of...

Re: ADC on Mic Pres - how important???

Have you tried one yourself? Mine is easily 100ms or more latency. Since monitoring is essentially through PTLE on an 003, the extra delay is quite apparent. Perhaps there have been some hardware...

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

With HT ON the system in general (mostly UI I think) really does feel a bit snappier. It doesn't seem to boot any faster, though.

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

Duh. I knew that! :-) I really did, but it never occurred to me this time.

Ok, re-doing the tests with 62 audio tracks and 30 aux tracks, each with 5 D-verbs, I gained 30 more for a total of...

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

From what I've gathered in past reads, it wasn't a full blown stress test, but rather, how many can you get with or without HT enabled, at xx% CPU. Without the stressing to maximum it may well be...

Re: ADC on Mic Pres - how important???

Is the latency of the A2D's A/D on par with those in the 003?

I've tried to use my UA 2192's A/D's but find their conversion to be much slower than the 003's. So there's nothing close to low...

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

Right, I'm aware of that. In my own testing there is a slight hit but it's minor unless you're trying to absolutely squeeze the highest D-Verb count that you can.

But let's say that you have my...

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

I'm using a modified XMP profile and have turned off all the variable speed and turbo options except C1E (multiplier). Fortunately, in this mode there are only two steps -- full speed with...

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

I finally got around to testing D-verbs(7) on my i7 system with PTLE 8. 62 tracks was the maximum I could get so there were 10 D-verbs each of 24 tracks and 5 each on the remainder for a total of...

Re: Pro Tools 8 LE multiple problems

Congrats!

That one really sounds like a memory leak issue in the PT8 code. I've never had the occasion to use loop repeat for the length of time you do.You're quite welcome. That's great to...

Re: Pro Tools 8 LE multiple problems

Right, and there are probably three different P5K board models so make sure to specify the right one. Generally, the BIOS's are the same, but not 100%.

That's a standard warning message to...

Re: Lots of -9092 Errors on Core i7 with only 24% CPU Usage

This can also be caused by the PT session disk system being a bit sluggish to deliver the initial data stream for play. Once it gets going it's usually fine. Most likely culprit is fragmentation,...

Re: Pro Tools 8 LE multiple problems

It was either the actual clock speed being too low, or the multiplier being lower than default. Either of those conditions indicate speed shifting.

Try this...

Re: Pro Tools Power User Editing - The Skunk Works Project

I wonder how PT actually uses the databases -- or updates them. I also use an occasional external drive with databases on it from a while back. It seems logical that if a drive is connected that...

Re: Pro Tools 8 LE multiple problems

One thing I see that is not right is speed stepping. Pro Tools doesn't like it, but I don't recall what visible problems it causes.

Go into your motherboard BIOS, probably under CPU and turn OFF...

Re: Burning sessions to dvd

If you *must* use DVD's for backup, make sure to turn verify on when burning them. Even then I wouldn't trust them 100%.
