12.8 update has broken my mac

Ever since updating to 12.7 i have been having problems using PT on my mac. Yesterday i tried to install 12.8 in the hope it had been fixed but now its worse than ever.

I can't start PT without it...

just to clarify, in playback I want to add multiple cut points to a clip at the point the playhead passes over the clip, by hitting a key whenever the next cut is needed.

just got a chance to try this by hooking up an old rarely used Digibeta tape deck....and it works!


With just a single cable between the Composite Out (Super) and the Pal input on the US4K.

it seems that i need to supply the US4k with a video signal as well as audio, which is a real pain because that just means connecting up cameras or purchasing a signal generator for asignal i dont...

simply to input a mono audio signal into Protools using the US4K as the audio interface.

I cannot get any audio to pass into ProTools from the device, yet playing back the other way works...

Has anyone ever successfully managed to send an analogue audio signal from the Ultrastudio4k into Protools?



I can watch and listen to the audio/video outputs from PT without any problems. But...

Four months on, and this problem is still there, and its so basic as to make ProTools unusable - really poor for a pro audio application!

i am having the same problems on my laptop (MBP 2.6ghz Intel i7, 16gb Ram, OSX10.9.4)

Just updated to 11.2.2 in the hope it would improve, but its actually got worse!

Yes I do...that was the first thing I checked!

What is puzzling me is that I also tried using a portable thunderbolt SSD, and it works perfectly on the laptop, yet I can't get the Big Mac to work.

I have done all the optimization mentioned in that document. Made no difference.

I have attached a different HD to run a test. It continues to fail to import...

I assume so - its a mac, which also has various versions of Final Cut Pro installed and running so its a safe bet Quicktime is there.

I thought i was doing that, but just realised the right click is no longer one of the ctrl/alt options on my laptop, but a two finger click on the trackpad!
