Re: 33 day countdown! Time to stick?

Day of OS update will never happen as companies like Avid need GM before they make final decisions. That is, assuming OS vendor will not delay release as per their customer requests...

Re: 33 day countdown! Time to stick?

I happen to know this previous transition very well as I was in PT beta team in PT7/8 era

Re: 33 day countdown! Time to stick?

That was software transition, this time it is hardware. Better comparison would be Apple going from PPC OSX to Intel OSX and this time it is just that; going from Intel to ARM.

Think of PT7.2...

Re: Loss of frequency Panning Issue

I have tried to recreate this but failed. Can you please share your system config, there must be something incompatible with it...?

Re: 33 day countdown! Time to stick?

That was a pretty heavy transition, for what it is worth. Nobody in their right mind would have had OSX as primary system before 2003, which is just when DigiDesign released PT6 on OSX.

OSX Jaguar...

Re: 33 day countdown! Time to stick?

True, but that is not Avid's fault. AFAIK, all Avid plugins are Catalina compatible.

Re: 33 day countdown! Time to stick?

Did anyone expect Avid release Catalina compatible version within 12 months? It did realise.

Re: 33 day countdown! Time to stick?

That is an interesting analogy. I think of it like de-clicking the option of "show warning before emptying the Bin" on Finder preferences.

Re: 33 day countdown! Time to stick?

I think that is just how "auto-renewal" works, it assumes you want to renew. Without that tick I assume Avid would send you a notice email telling when you need to renew (and in perfect world when...

Re: 33 day countdown! Time to stick?

Umm, isn't it Intel that hasn't really made significant progress? Apple moving to ARM is best thing since sliced bread, back to RISC and power efficiency.

Re: Can I use one audio interface with 2 DAW opened at the same time?

Yes, but it is not necessarily important to have HD driver to share i/o between PT and LX because you can sync them together and have LX playback your MIDI while PT has all the i/o for itself. How...

Re: Omni line-level in on front panel 1-2

Of course, but that wasn't the point. Besides, I like to do my panels myself using quality Neutrik components so simply Omni panel would cost like a hundred, counting zero value for the work...

Re: PC laptops for PT 2020

No problem.

Just double-check that SSD spec, if it doesn't say NVMe or PCI-express it is likely older slower SATA type which you don't want to buy today. And once you have verified it is the...

Re: Can I use one audio interface with 2 DAW opened at the same time?

Umm, I only have experience of HD drivers but they do require exclusive access

Re: Can I use one audio interface with 2 DAW opened at the same time?

First issue would be CoreAudio driver, in which case if one of your DAW's is PT it requires exclusive access.

Re: Omni line-level in on front panel 1-2

It would be too much engineering to let end user choose if he wants to use line-level inputs from the front panel or back

Yes, please do not cross post. You have a thread going on the proper subforum so I am closing this one.

Re: ProTools 12.5 Perpetual "You do not have any licenses in your account"

Activations 0/1 means you have activated your license somewhere, and as 12.5 is old enough to not support Cloud, the license is in your license key.

If the key is broken you need to open support...

Re: PC laptops for PT 2020

Avid tested hardware list is here (https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/compatibility/Pro-Tools-System-Requirements). The only PC laptop is HP ZBook G2

With that said, they update this list...

Re: Omni line-level in on front panel 1-2

What he so eloquently tried to say is front panel combo is mic/instrument and cannot be used with line-level sources. Doing a quick search for a manual usually clears out this kind of confusion.

Re: Pro Tools Perpetual -- PC compatibility

Yes, if the internal SSD is NVMe then you should be able to run your session on boot drive, then store it to external for long term storage. You have a fairly good change with that gear -- but take a...

Re: Pro Tools Perpetual -- PC compatibility

Hi, welcome to the community.

I am fairly sure CPU speed will not restrict you for starters, you will only need more juice when you run more plugins. And because you have 24GB memory, that is...
